it doesn’t seem like grandma and grandpa K live that far away normally, but when they have almost a foot of snow on the group when we have none it’s like a different world![]()

happy birthday
I have been a bad mom-arazzi lately, haven’t had the good camera out, despite it being my little man’s birthday.
Here are my phone photos showing the stages of eating your first birthday cake.
(Har LOVES this toy with “pigs” and a house, so my mom got him the angry birds pigs for his cake. She asked for them to make them purple but apparently that wasn’t an option

The foundation for our house was dug this week. It looks big! Which is great cause we know just how much room you need! It’s going to be a stressful journey, but well worth it when we get to move in and enjoy it!

We were technically on the cruise during this week too, so more cruise photos! By far your favorite thing was the splash pad. Kids everywhere, water everywhere! You had so much fun crawling around the water features and up to the other kids. You are definitely a little fish. Harlan the Marlin.

We took an impromptu vacation this week with the Kornexl family. It was a cruise to the Bahamas! You did so well! Despite being stuck in a car for what seemed like forever and the possibility of sea-sickness you were a rockstar! All the staff loved you and your watermelon addiction. On par, you loved all the time you had splashing around, except for the few moments you got saltwater in your mouth :)

You had your first play date this week! We went to the zoo and had a blast. You got to talk to a gorilla, spied a few bears, and get close to this giant ladybug! You thought it would be hilarious to take your cup of puffs and pour them out everywhere. The zoo animals probably appreciated it though!

What a difference one week and 200 miles makes! Last week you were all layered up and this week you’re swimming in your pool. You sure love to play in water, whether it be a pool, shower, splash pad, or sippy cup. We have a fun summer ahead with lots of time spent splashing around!

I told myself that this week’s photo couldn’t be all “look at my beautiful blue eyes” and it was hard. But I managed to capture the reason for your new nickname perfectly. Papa has been calling you ‘bam bam’ because of your habit of banging your hands against anything they can reach. Here you are playing a stacking toy like a bongo and loving every second of it. I tried to take a nap with you over the weekend and when you were ready to wake up you started hitting my in the face, so we might have to start discouraging this little habit of yours…

Oh you little rascal. You sure are a rough and tumble baby, aren’t you? This week you decided that the space between our bed and the dresser was small enough for you to leap. As soon as Papa had his back turned you went for it. Luckily he caught you before you fell too far, but that dresser got you in the forehead first. You were perfectly fine, just a little shaken up, and it hasn’t seemed to dampen your adventurous spirit at all. I have a feeling we will get to know your Dr. very well over the years. Now to really baby proof things around the house!

mom
it’s a bit of a happy coincidence that several bloggers are having an Embrace the Camera challenge (namely my must read Ashley from Under the Sycamore) as over the weekend I decided to break out the camera remote and step in the frame. It was a fail of a first attempt from a focus standpoint, but I’m still in love with these photos.
(someday matte is going to be the new selective coloring, but I still love it)

I gave you a wooden toolbox full of toys this weekend. You were mostly obsessed with the box, despite it being too large for you to handle. You sure tried though. Watching you try and grab it and then scoot to follow it around was adorable. You also thought the piece in the picture was perfect for chewing on. You did hold onto the hammer for a bit while we walked around, chewing on the end. That ended when you started swinging it around and got a little too close to both our heads. You’re slowly starting to get more hair, which is adorable, you can finally have “bad” hair days!

This project is making me learn a lot about my camera, and I love it. This picture isn’t focused well, but it’s hard to catch you sitting still lately. I am so excited for the longer and warmer days so we can get a change of scenery and take pictures sometime other than the weekends. I took several other “better” photographs with this one, but this one best captured your personality. So goofy. You absolutely love to blow raspberries, and lately you’ve been doing it when it’s dinner time, getting your oatmeal everywhere. It’s too cute to make me angry.

(This ones comes a little late as I was “stealing” this pic from photog-friend TJ Marshall)
Aunt Kate got married this weekend. It was a great celebration, and you did so well. You got to stay up past your bedtime on Friday night, but you were great about it. On Saturday morning you went to work with papa, and they said you were great there as well. You did fight your naps all day though, so by the time the ceremony was over and the party was getting started, you were passed out in a quiet room, already recovering from the long weekend. On Sunday we went and had brunch with the bride and groom and you tried blueberries. You weren’t as excited about them as papa was hoping, but someday I’m sure you’ll love them. Good job little bug.

Our little rolly polly. Lately we can put you down on a blanket with some toys and you’re happy to roll around playing with them for a while. As long as we give you a few tickles on occasion so you know that we’re still around. Ms. Linda at daycare says you’re rolling around everywhere there, doing your best to get into trouble. She sure does love to call you rotten, but I think she calls her favorites that. Papa and I should probably start baby-proofing the house, before we know it you’re going to be tearing it all apart.

I finally got a profile shot. We love your perfectly round face and head, especially when you’re using it to slobber all over us. You’re growing so much every day. It is crazy to think just a few months ago you were half this size. At the rate you’re growing up you’ll be the size of a house in no time. How about you slow down a bit, ok?

Photo Dump
Little sister is getting married next weekend and I’ve been super busy. So for your viewing pleasure, here is a photo dump from my phone.
