We spent the weekend at our first festival of the fall and making apple cider.  Also, hair!  Woohoo!  It’s still thin, but you actually appear to have some now.  You have 4 molars poking through your gums, and you drool ALL THE TIME.  Hopefully they stop torturing you and make a true appearance soon.  I’m sure you’d also appreciate being able to chew a little better as well!

I might just be admitting to being a bad mom, but I love this photo.  You literally try to get your mouth on EVERYTHING.  We have continued to visit parks most every day, and we both love it.  We had a burst of cold air this week and we are all so ready for fall!  You are a pretty good walker now, and getting better at un-even surfaces everyday.  You’re also actually climbing on the playground equipment, instead of just playing with mulch.  It sometimes gives me a scare, but you have to learn somehow.

We went to Churchill Downs to participate in family day.  You got to ride your first horse and wander around the paddock area surrounded by kids and toys and activities.  We shared a cheeseburger for lunch (you mostly ate the fries) and generally had a grand ol’ time.  Despite how good you’re getting at walking, you’re usually still game to be held.  Uncle Derek came into town to help dada with the new house, and lots of fun was had by all.

Overnight you became a hand holder, and my heart melted a little more.  You’re suddenly hugging and holding hands, though we’re still working on kisses.  Occasionally you’ll stop walking and raise your hand towards me, refusing to go forward until I provide my hand.  Lately we have made a habit of going to a park after we get home.  It’s mostly been the small one within walking distance, our favorite because we usually have the place to ourselves and the nearby hill and trees blocks the setting sun.  I look forward to many more trips to this park.

My crazy little guy.  We have spent many evenings and Saturday afternoons at the new house, watching dada work.  You walk around with abandon, oblivious to all the many things you could hurt yourself with.  I finally figured out to bring the play yard. I put a whole container of toy balls in there with you, and you spent most of your time throwing them out for me to fetch and throw back in.  At least I know there aren’t any nails in there…

You are one!

We celebrated with Grandpa and Grandma Kornexl with cake and presents, and then again a week later with Grandma and Grandpa Davis.  You.are.loved.

You are officially a walker, and your poor face and knees will never be the same.  I suspect you are getting your molars soon, but no sight of them yet.  You love to play the piano, you sit and bang up and down the keyboard, making as much noise as you can.

Miss Toni, one of mommy and daddy’s coworkers, had a pre-surgery send-off today and you just had to attend.  We filled the lobby with balloons and you thought it was the best.  At one point we even lost you in all the balloons.  We love how you bring a smile to peoples faces.  You are so outgoing and mischievous people can’t help but smile.  We need to buy you some shoes as you want to walk most anywhere we go, you’re getting so big!

This past weekend was Grandpa K’s retirement party.  You and your cousins were quite the hit.  We consider you officially walking now!  You’re still getting the hang of it and resort to crawling when you’re in a hurry, which is still super cute.  You decided to try eating chalk, and I think you liked it.  I had to pull a huge chunk out of your mouth you had chewed up and you had a blue mouth for a while.  Silly little guy.

It amazes me how those eyes are always so blue.  I hope that you will always have the spark and light in them as you do now.  You are getting so much closer to walking.  It really could be any day now.  I have suspicions that you are walking at daycare and not doing it for us at home yet, but you will!

Oh my!  A baby!  Your cousin Lucy is about 9 days old in this pic.  It’s so crazy to think that 11 months ago you were that size.  She is such a cutie.  Just like you she turns bright red as soon as she’s angry.  You will have lots of adventures as you grow older, just make sure she stays safe, ok?

We head out to the land almost every night after work.  You have gotten in the habit of taking a nap during the drive and sometimes during our entire visit.  The weather has been blissfully cool lately, which only aids in your napping.  Still no walking other than a few teasing steps, but we are told the chaos grows exponentially as soon as you do, so feel free to take your time.

I have a feeling a construction site is going to be the backdrop of most of these photos going forward.  Here they had poured the foundation and were waiting for it to set up.  You are standing where the garage will someday be.  You have taken several steps for us, but quickly decide you are much faster at crawling and hit your knees.  Before we know it you will be running and jumping everywhere.

The foundation for our house was dug this week.  It looks big!  Which is great cause we know just how much room you need!  It’s going to be a stressful journey, but well worth it when we get to move in and enjoy it!
